Pastor Josh Ham
Pastor Josh Ham was born and raised in Lexington, SC. He trusted Christ as his Savior at age 14 during a church revival meeting. Pastor Tom MacAvoy
He must increase, but I must decrease; John 3:30.
Although Pastor MacAvoy started his career in the business world for eight years, God called him into the ministry in 1988. In the fall of that year, he and his wife Wanda and their two young children moved to Greenville, SC where Tom attended Bob Jones University. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies. Upon finishing his degree, his first pastorate was in Noxen, PA where he served faithfully for over ten years. For the following five years, he served at First Baptist Church, Damascus, PA as assistant pastor/school administrator and then at Hanover Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA, also as an assistant pastor.
God’s call to Steam Valley Bible Church in 2006 was the start of a wonderful ministry with the people of this community. The MacAvoys have three grown children and praise the Lord that they are all saved and serving the Lord: Tom and Cheyanne MacAvoy (Castlewood, SD), Seth and Jennifer Marks (Cogan Station, PA), and Nathan and Martha MacAvoy (Williamston, SC). The MacAvoys love spending time with their children and 12 grandchildren.
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth; 3 John 1:4.
This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night,
that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous,
and then you will have good success. Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage;
do not be afraid, nor be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go; Joshua 1:8-9.
