March 2018

March Greetings!

Yesterday I got an email from a pastor/friend who let me know that their boys’ basketball team from their Christian school (where I was principal for three years) was participating in a tournament in Williamsport. It was a blessing to attend the game last night. During the game my wife came and asked me if I knew the other team that was playing. As it turned out, that team was from another Christian school where my wife had taught. We attended that church when we were newly saved. I was a deacon in that church, left the church to go to Bible school and then was ordained at the church. (I didn’t recognize the school because they had changed the name.) Anyway, we got a double blessing and rooted for both teams! J

Thanksgiving and Prayer…

  • Two new families have been attending recently:
    • Ciarlos: Steve, Danielle, Malachi & Micah
    • Jones: Dave, Anna, Emily, Makenna, & Bubby
  • We’ve recently had some great opportunities to serve the Lord and His people. I’m thankful that the Lord has given our folks a mind to work. The ladies did a great job with a baby shower for Becky Riley. Also, we were able to host a luncheon for about 85 folks who attended the funeral of Mary Wilson. What a privilege to preach the Gospel!
  • Sunday School—Attributes of God; Morning Worship—Gospel of John
  • Salvation of souls! Power of God!
  • Great fellowship at the men’s retreat
  • Sweetheart Breakfast emphasizing the love of God that the men did for the Lord and for the ladies.
  • Mom’s Morning starting 3/8 from 9:00-10:30 in the Fellowship Hall; studying Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that can Radically Change your Family by Paul Tripp; children are welcome!
  • Plans underway for our 2nd annual 3-on-3 Basketball Outreach on March 24.
  • I just talked with Max Peacock. He is home and doing well. He asked me to thank you for your prayers and to keep praying! I also just talked with Pat Lepley. She had a partial knee replacement on Thursday but is home already. She said she’s having quite a bit more pain than she expected but is making progress. Please let me know if you can help with some light meals. She would appreciate it.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us; 1 John 4:16-19.

Thank you for praying with us and for us. We pray for you too!

In Christ’s Love,

Tom & Wanda MacAvoy
