July Greetings!

July Greetings!

This is a little early but…

Wanda and I thank the Lord for the opportunity we have Lord willing, to leave tomorrow to travel to SD to see our son Tom and his family. We haven’t seen them for a year. In some ways that time has flown by and in other ways it seems like a long time since we’ve been with them. As we look at pictures of the grandkids, it’s amazing how much they all grow and change in a year! Of course, Wanda and I haven’t changed a bit—NOT! J We are looking forward to meeting our newest grandson who will be 2 months old this Wednesday.

So guess who is preaching at SVBC next Sunday, July 2? A young man I taught pre-algebra to at Damascus Christian Academy about 13 or 14 years ago! He is now the assistant pastor at First Baptist Church of Damascus, PA. It was my pleasure to hear him preach at our pastor’s fellowship last year. He preached on Isaiah 6 and the Lord spoke to my heart. What a blessing to have a part in people’s lives! So please pray for John as he comes to SVBC with his wife Johanna and their two  young daughters Beth and Hope.

Last Sunday we enjoyed a Father’s Day treat of Sunday School in the Fellowship Hall—delicious breakfast, special music and God’s Word. What a feast of blessings! Then today some of our ladies and teen girls met at Rachelle’s house for fellowship around the theme Revealing Beauty {from the inside out}. Thank you to all who work to make these things such a blessing!

Thank the Lord with us for answered prayer in fruit from several different areas, including some counseling situations. What a blessing to see folks allowing the Holy Spirit to apply God’s Word to their hearts, minds and wills!

August 10-12 is our trip to the Creation Museum & Ark Encounter—there are seats still available. If you or anyone you know is interested please see Rhonda as soon as possible!

Some other prayer requests:

  • Camp ministries—Grace Dingler & Jonah Paulhamus are serving the Lord at 2 different camps this summer.

  • Mary Wilson—moved to skilled care and in a wheelchair due to falling frequently. Prayer, visits and a card would be appreciated: Mrs. Mary Wilson, Room 509

The Williamsport Home  1900 Ravine Road  Williamsport, PA 17791

  • Jack Young—moved to Manor Care North last Wednesday

  • Pastor Peet & Sharon—Pastor is possibly resigning from Roseville Baptist Church to be able to help Sharon more. Again, prayer, visits and a card would be appreciated: Pastor & Mrs. Gerald Peet 725 Reynolds Road  Mansfield, PA 16933; 570-549-2415

  • Missionaries Pete & Joy Palmer—possible transition back to Australia within the next 6 months.

Here are a few verses from my personal devotions that especially spoke to my heart this last week:

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise,

and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth;

that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee

Proverbs 22:17, 19, 21

June Greetings!

June Greetings!

After much rain, we were finally able to till the garden. It’s a small garden, but it’s in! J

Today I got an announcement of the college graduation of a young man who I had in Master Club when I was in Virginia. So yes, that had to be over a decade ago when I helped this then young elementary boy prepare to preach at a regional Master Club competition. What a blessing today  to find out that his degree is a Bachelor of Religious Education in Bible and Pastoral Theology. And the verse he has on his announcement is…

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory,

for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake; Psalm 115:1.

And on top of that, the announcement also let me know that this “little boy” is engaged to be married! The things kids do these days! What a privilege to be an influence for Jesus Christ in anyone’s life. This week I was reading in Ecclesiastes 11:1—Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

And that verse dovetails right into the Revival Meetings we enjoyed with the Sivnksty Family. The theme was “Building Redemptive Relationships.” We enjoyed great preaching and fellowship as well as Charlie Alsheimer on Thursday night. On Friday, Marlin Plank opened his home and property for the men to have a clay bird shoot and Rhonda Harris hosted the ladies. We thank the Lord for the opportunities He gives us to plant and water His Word and we pray with expectation for the increase that only He can give.

We’re thankful to be following-up with two different couples that have visited SVBC over the last two weeks. Please pray with us about that, about another young person desiring to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism and about us all continuing to grow in the Lord and in building redemptive relationships! A special prayer request is for wisdom in planning tent meetings with a couple other churches for September 2018. Recently we received another opportunity to work with a church that has just changed/updated its doctrinal statement to what we believe is a biblical position on a doctrine we had disagreed with them about in the past. We would appreciate your prayer about the possibility of working with that church as well. God is working… always! Please join us in praising  and thanking Him.

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life; 1 John 5:20.

In Christ’s Love,

Tom & Wanda MacAvoy

May 2017

May Greetings!

Wow—what a gorgeous day! As I write this on Friday, I thank the Lord for sunshine and warmth. Spring is a wonderful season!

We thank the Lord for the wonderful Seder and Resurrection Day the Lord had for us. We had several visitors and are asking the Lord for His leading and power in continuing to pray for them and follow-up . God is the One Who gives the increase—praise Him!

I must thank the Lord for a great annual business meeting on Wednesday. There was a good spirit and the meeting was followed by a surprise birthday party for someone. Happy 70th Marlie! Blessings.

We are looking forward to Revival meetings! I will paste below information about it and some things we’d be glad for you to join us in prayer about. And please invite folks, bring them with you and come! We’re looking forward to what the Lord will continue to do both in us and through us.

Our memory verse for May:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin.; Romans 6:6.

God bless you as you continue serving Him!
In Christ’s Love,
Tom & Wanda MacAvoy
